How Ozone & Ultraviolet Therapy Works
Ozone and Ultraviolet Light (UBI) Therapy is the combination of removing one’s blood, adding ozone, and running your ozone-infused blood via special tubing through UVA, UVB, and UVC rays. Ozone in the blood causes oxidative stress, causing the body to respond and heal. UV light adds energy to the red blood cells, causing a healing cascade to occur.
The combination of Ozone and UBI increases the biological activity of the blood cells, thereby increasing immune-modulating effects. O3UV is TWO therapies in one!
Pre-Care Instructions
- Make sure to drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your treatment session. Keeping your body hydrated will assist your red blood cells in cleansing the rest of your body
- Eat a light snack about an hour before your appointment. This will help keep you from getting dizzy or even fainting after your Ozone session.
- Avoid taking vitamins or supplements 12 hours before your treatment session.
Post-Care Instructions
- Keep drinking plenty of water to help your body adjust to the increased levels of oxygen in your blood. This will also help flush the toxins out of your body.
- Make sure to get plenty of rest. Getting adequate amounts of sleep will help your body heal faster and improve the efficacy of treatment.
- Take it easy and avoid strenuous activity for a few days following your Ozone and Ultraviolet light treatment. Your body will be busy adjusting and will not achieve optimal results while also straining muscles.

When will I feel the effects of Ozone Therapy
The answer varies from person to person. Some patients can feel improvement immediately following their ultraviolet and ozone therapy treatment, for others, it may take a couple of days as their body cleanses out the toxins.
Will there be any down time?
One of the great things about ozone and ultraviolet light therapy is there is no downtime or recovery required! Once you’re finished with treatments, you’ll be able to return to your normal daily activities as normal.
Is Ozone & Ultraviolet Therapy Painful
No, ultraviolet and ozone therapy here at Mission Health & Wellness is not painful. The only discomfort you may feel is when the IV needle is inserted into your arm, but our team of professionals ensures you’re completely comfortable during treatment.
Is Treatment Safe?
- Yes, Ultraviolet and Ozone therapy are proven to be completely safe. Ozone is not yet FDA-approved due to it being a relatively new treatment and not having undergone any long-term research, but early studies have proven it to be safe and effective. Ozone is even used to cleanse surgical equipment in hospitals!
